Picking Figs at Backyard Bounty Farm

Our Fig Preserves are made in small batches with local figs from Melanie Plies at Backyard Bounty Farm and the wonderful folks at Singer Hill Gardens. We pick the figs (yes, in some cases we pick them ourselves!) at the peak of season and make the preserves with lemon slices, candied ginger, and pure cane sugar.

Since we use all-natural Pamona Pectin, we’re able to keep the sugar content very low. The preserves taste like fresh fruit straight from the jar!

Fig preserves is one of our most versatile of our products – it can be served as part of an appetizer or on a charcuterie plate, paired with cheeses or meats (with braunschweiger is our chef’s favorite!), and it is even well suited with dessert, warmed and poured over ice cream.

It’s fantastic with goat cheese on crostini, on roasted winter squash, or on fresh biscuits or toast. A spoonful added to your morning oatmeal is divine – as well as adding it to the top of a pork loin or chop just before finishing cooking.

Come taste our preserves at the Portland Farmers Market at PSU starting March 20th. We offer free samples of all of our products!
