Sassafras Southern Tomato Pie

Tomato Pie is a Southern dish, made with a traditional pie crust. We fill it with tomatoes and cheddar, then top it with herbs, spices and caramelized onions.

The pie was recently featured in the Oregonian’s FOODday and won an award in the 2008 Portland Pie Off for Best Savory Pie and Best Overall Pie. If you are interested in making a tomato pie yourself, feel free to check out our recipe or watch a video on how it is prepared.
